Chapter 8

(Amara POV) I don’t know how long I was sitting here but it was now getting dark. No one came for me. I hoped that seeing me agitated would make my mate search for me. I let out a dry laugh at the thought. Who am I kidding? There was no surety whether an Azurian is above a marked royal ruler. It’s a debated subject. Some consider Azurians important because they go on the most dangerous mission. Some consider the ruler because without them a kingdom never lasts. Nevertheless, both Azurians and 'marked' royal rulers (like me) are ones chosen by the Lord himself. So they are considered equally important. But then again it differs with each person's mentality. I am sure his ego-self finds me unworthy to be his mate. My hand formed into a fist as I slammed my hand to the ground in anger. Why am I getting so frustrated? 'Because no matter what, he is our mate' Atarah said as I sighed and looked ahead. I could hear the soft songs of the water spirits. They always start to sing when the sun was setting. The water will start to glow lightly revealing the illuminant light of the water spirits. I always wanted to come here at night. But I have never been here when dark. When my mom was my age, this forest was said to be the f*******n forest. Now it's considered a sacred forest linking the dominion to earth. But it is f*******n to enter the place at night time. "I knew you might be here" a familiar voice came as I turned and smile. "Hey," I said putting on a fake smile. "The Azurians reached back to the castle," Ceil said as he sat next to me. I couldn’t help but give out a small chuckle. What was I expecting? "Are you ok?" he asked confused as I waved my hand. "Yea. Better than ever" I replied sarcastically making him even more confused. I sighed and stood up, dusting my back from sand and dirt. "Let's go back" With that, we both walked our way to the castle. The atmosphere around us was very awkward. "You know something surprising happened in the castle" Ceil suddenly said trying to change the mood. "What is it?" I asked not really interested. "That emotionless Azurian, Sir Soren finally showed an emotion," he said as my head whipped to him. "What?" "But it was weird though. He reacted upon hearing you are not here" he said as I stopped and stared at him. "Really?" I asked as he nodded. "Yea. We all were pretty shocked too. The Azurians thought that you came home. When I said you aren’t, he burst" he said snapping his fingers. "Just like that" I looked at Ceil in shock. My wolf jumped in happiness. 'He cares! He cares!" she said but I shushed her. 'We don’t know what type of reaction' I replied as she rolled her eyes. 'I got a picture but if you are doubting ask him' she said as I sighed. "What kind of outburst?" I asked as he looked at me. "Well, he jumped in shock and started shouting. He looked angry" he said as I stared at him. "By the way. How did you know I will be there?" I asked trying to change the topic. "You are always there when you have something in your mind. When the Azurians told you to stomp off angrily I immediately figured where you were." He said as I laughed. "Of course you do" There were a few minutes of silence before he decided to end it. "When I told I know where you are, Soren wanted to come with me," he said as I paused. "He did?" I asked as he looked at me giving a slow nod. "Yes but he quickly changed it" Hearing that made my heart dip in sadness. 'At least he reacted when we were not found. So it means something right?' Atarah said as if trying to reassure me. 'I don’t know. I am so confused, Atarah' I replied to her. "Are you hiding something from me?" he asked grabbing my attention. His eyes stared at me as if trying to solve something inside me. I looked away and shrugged. "What are you saying? I am not hiding anything" I said as he sighed. "If you say so" With that, we made it back to the castle. The atmosphere around us once again was filled with awkwardness and there is almost a half an hour walk. "I am starting to feel tired. Can we teleport?" I asked as he stopped and looked at me. "Ok" was his only reply before closing his eyes and chanting the spell. I sighed and watched him open a portal to the castle. 'He is mad at you' Atarah said as I rolled my eyes. 'Thank you, captain obvious' I mumbled. "Come on," Ceil said extending his hand. I quickly took his hand and in the very instant the scene around us changed. Soon I was standing inside the castle right in front of the door. I was surprised as I saw everyone in front of me. My eyes immediately went to my mate. But he just stared at me with no emotion. 'Why do I feel like Ceil just made up the incident with Soren?' I said to Atarah as she whimpered. 'No, Ceil will never lie about such matters' she said sadly. Even she is having doubts. He looks so unbothered. "Where did you go?! You had us worried" Uncle Nate said as he walked to me. "I am more than fine. I was at the melony river banks" I said and immediately regretted it as his face changed. "What!" he shouted before glaring. "I told you not to go to the f*******n forest alone," he said as I winced. He was clearly angry. Only Ceil and I knew I go there often. I was so frustrated I spoke without thinking. "Why did you go there?! And that too alone! You know what happened last time right?!" he said as I sighed and nodded. "I know." I looked away as my hand involuntarily covered my stomach. Uncle Nate sighed as he shook his head. "Just don’t do that again. Go and wash up. Dinner is almost ready" he said as I nodded and walked off.
