He leaned forward again, slowly folding his hands atop the desk, thoughtful. He knew how to read people, especially when they were trying not to be read. Cassandra's walls weren't perfect, there were cracks. But if he pushed her too hard, too fast, she might shut down. She might resist giving him anything else. And he needed more. Still, this complicated things. If she had no known ties to her biological parents, if she had completely severed herself from that part of her identity... it would make tracing her past difficult. Almost impossible. He would have to get Rowan to look into it. Have him dig deeper into her surname, see if anyone shared any trace of blood or connection to it. Of course, it might be fake. A name given to hide the truth. A dead end. But Darius wasn't one to walk
