Catching them in mid-conversation. I don't know what's been spoken prior, but the two seem to have been in conversation for a while, seemingly having resolved some of the tension that I felt earlier when we got into the car.
"Do you think there will ever be a day you can completely forgive me?" Aiden asks Matthew, his voice in a small whisper as to not wake me up.
I decide to keep my eyes closed, letting them try to resolve and mend their friendship.
Matthew sighs, his voice coming out gently. "Apologize to me again once you've found your mate, Aiden. Then I'll forgive you entirely."
"Done." Aiden's voice seems more hopeful. "I do value our friendship, Matthew. For whatever it's worth. Our band was the closest thing I've ever had to a normal life."
