Betrayal and Torment
Lisa’s Stance
My heart ached with despair, knowing that Finn, the man I loved, was forced, and his father had sentenced me to imprisonment.
My cries grew louder as I lost control of myself.
Why? Why did mother choose to betray me? What had I done wrong to deserve this from her?
“Will you keep quiet?” one of the guards yelled at me.
I ignored him and continued crying. What would happen to me? Would Finn side with his father and the elders? I should have listened to him if I had known this would happen.
“Are you deaf?” The angry guard screamed at me again. When I ignored him, he opened the cell door and walked in. “Are you stupid? Why didn’t you listen to me when I told you to be quiet?”
“Let go of me,” I cried as he dragged me up by my hair. “Stop hurting me.”
