She hasn’t told him the details of the party she will attend. Likewise, he didn’t ask. When he came home early to prepare for one he would attend, he found her sleeping. Thinking she might be tired, he didn’t wake her up. He’ll just go alone.
As for Andrea, there was a problem at her company which she had to resolve that morning. She was fairly tired and went to sleep early when she got home, so she would have the energy during the party.
