Chapter 9 – More dates and meeting in-laws

2574 Words
Andrea came to the office with some snacks. Tina was surprised to receive a portion from her. Her boss never asks for snacks. Maybe she should’ve mentioned that to Ms. Andrea? But she specifically said that she’ll drop by at this time. Ah, never mind. She is hungry. If her boss likes her, he would appreciate whatever she brings. She quietly ate as she eyed the door to his boss’ office. Hmm, should she prevent anyone from going in? Maybe? Andrea’s quite surprised at how their “relationship” really seems normal. When she showed him the food she brought, she hadn’t needed to coax him to eat. He stood up on his own and sat next to her on the couch. But after looking at the food, he stated, “I wanted something else.” She’s not sure how to feel. Disappointed? Embarrassed? “Oh, then I’ll get that next time? What is it?” When she turned to him, she was immediately consumed by his kiss. This has frequently been happening in the last few days. He tasted her lips and her mouth, playing with her tongue and sucking on her lips every now and then. Andrea could vaguely distinguish the smacking noises. He sucks on her lips with pop, and whenever he dives deep into her, there is somehow a slurping noise. She could only moan as his hands were firm on her body. She’s not sure how she ended up on his lap, but that’s how it went. Instead of eating, they spent the time with locked lips. Tina almost choked when Jarred suddenly showed up. He greeted her with a smile and a nod, then proceeded to open the door to Wayne’s office. I’m screwed, Tina thought. She tried calling out but was ignored. She quickly drank water to push down the food and followed after him. “I brought . . .” Jarred was stunned at the scene that greeted him. There’s a woman in his cousin’s lap and Wayne’s clearly . . . Wayne paused to glare at the person who interrupted them. Andrea hid her face in embarrassment. “Get out,” he ordered but Jarred couldn’t move. This was . . . “I’m so sorry, sir. I should’ve guarded the door better. Please, Jarred.” Tina pulled him out by his coat before quickly closing the door. A pity it doesn’t lock from the outside. “Who’s that woman?” Jarred managed to ask when his senses returned to him. “None of your business. Please, go,” Tina replied before noticing the folder in his hand. “Is that a document for the boss? You can leave that with me.” Jarred subconsciously handed it over. He didn’t move and stared blankly at the door. In the brief time that she followed Jarred inside, she did see what he saw. They were clearly doing something intimate. She blushed a little. She’d been married, but she couldn’t imagine doing something like that in the office. Well, he’s the boss. “I should go.” Andrea tried to stand as soon as the door closed, but Wayne kept her where she was. “Don’t move.” “It’s embarrassing. We shouldn’t be doing this in your office.” Wayne grunted his disagreement. “I can do anything I want in my own office.” He seemed truly unbothered as he resumed kissing her. She couldn’t even get a word out as their lips were firmly pressed together. It feels as if someone’s pulling a string through her stomach, especially when he sucks on her tongue. She only allowed her hands to cling to his neck and play with his hair. Wayne knew he was more than attracted and most likely addicted to her already. He will have her. If there’s one thing Andrea was thankful for, it’s the way he doesn’t go further than kissing and some fondling. She admires his self-control. They had their second date on Wednesday night at a private booth in a different restaurant. He sat her on his lap again and caressed her legs. Needless to say, she whimpered at his every touch. He massaged her legs, slowly moving upwards to her butt. Her panties are truly drenched, and she’s afraid he would be able to smell her arousal. She could definitely feel his erection under her. They might have embarrassed the servers that tried to enter their booth. They had only taken a few bites before devouring each other again. Her insides were knotted in anticipation. She tried hard to focus on Jay as they continued their discussion. She would have to visit the site and check if things are going according to plan. How often had she berated herself not to get too caught up with Wayne? She must do other things, and she needs to focus on them. Wayne was almost the same. He’s slowly trying to regain his previous routine. On their third date Saturday night, their kisses were sweet instead of consuming. The longest only lasted less than five minutes. Andrea’s not sure whether to celebrate or be disappointed. It’s better this way, she decided. Their dating phase went well without any issues. Now, it’s time for the in-laws to meet. “What do you mean?” Andrea asked when Wayne told her that it’s better to reserve a place and have everyone meet. “Your parents want to meet me, and my parents want to meet you. I say let everyone come and meet each other.” Her lip twitched. His method was efficient, but it would undoubtedly be awkward. But then, their families used to be neighbors and friends. Maybe it’s not such a bad idea? “Okay. When do you plan on it? We have to make sure everyone’s available.” “Not necessarily everyone. Having our parents meet is enough. If the others can’t come, they don’t need to come.” Andrea paused. “Are you talking about Aria?” “Not really. If she can come, she can come. If she’s busy, she doesn’t need to come.” She chuckled. Hmm, she wonders if he has ways to make his sister busy on the day they would agree on? Wayne handled the details and told her the date. “Oh, we’re finally going to meet your boyfriend?” her mother asked during dinner. “Didn’t you already meet him when he was a kid?” “But this is different. He’s a man now and dating our precious daughter.” Andrea hadn’t heard her mom call her precious in a long while. She grimaced. “Wayne and I agreed. You’re not only meeting him. We’ll be meeting his parents as well.” There was a pause in the table. “You can say it’s a family meeting. Everyone used to be friends, right?” she appealed to them with that fact. Drew, her younger brother, grunted on the other side of the table. “Well, will that be alright? Their family has been successful, whereas we . . .” Her father trailed off, but it was clear to everyone what he implied. “Wayne’s helping us, isn’t he? I’m sure his family wouldn’t think too badly of us.” Even as she says it, she’d become worried as well. “Then, what should we prepare for this meeting? What type of clothes should we wear? How should we conduct ourselves?” her mother asked. As expected, the concern rubbed off on everyone. It made her a little exasperated. “Just be yourself, Mom. Wear something casual. Or semi-formal. I’ll check with Wayne. You don’t need to be so concerned.” “This child. We can’t be too shabby in meeting them. First impressions are important. We’ve had our good days.” “I know, Mom.” She tried to be reassuring. She didn’t want to upset her parents. Should she ask Wayne what to expect? Maybe they should prepare some gifts that they would like or something. That night she called him to ask. Though he also tried to assure her that there was nothing special about meeting his parents, she remained worried. “At most, they’ll mention grandchildren again and tell us to get married already.” His answer was beyond her expectations. When she remained quiet on the line, he sighed before offering, “Do you want me to meet your parents separately?” That startled her. “What? Ah, no. That’s not necessary.” “If you’re planning to prepare gifts, tell Tina to get them for you.” “How can I do that? I wouldn’t be able to confidently give them those. I’ll do it myself.” “Well, if you insist.” After more silence, “Is there anything else?” “Ah, no. That’s everything, I think. Thank you,” she answered, and as usual, he promptly hung up. On the day of the meeting, Wayne made sure that his family arrived first. He decided to tell them a few reminders and not to overdo anything. When they arrived, Andrea’s heart was beating too fast. He received them, greeting her parents politely before guiding everyone inside. His hand remained on her waist, and when he thought no one’s looking, he dropped a kiss on her lips. His mother saw it and was thrilled. His parents introduced themselves informally, having recognized the other couple and remembering their previous friendship. The kids were all grown up, though. Drew and Annie exchanged a look. They’re the same age, and he used to tease her a lot. Instead of playing with Wayne, he preferred playing with her. “It has been a long while. How are you?” His mother was the most excited among everyone. The two men greeted each other casually, letting the women talk. Aria went to greet Drew and laughed when he ignored her. He hasn’t changed one bit. It was all good since Andrea was friends with her, though she also used to trail after Wayne. When she shared that bit with their mother, they were gushing. Annie remained sitting, just watching all the others. Andrea’s parents have already relaxed at how very welcoming the Andersons were. They had a light conversation while the food was served on the table. Andrea fielded a few questions from his parents. Wayne kept a hand on her waist, though it wasn’t very noticeable while sitting. Then, it was Wayne’s turn to be questioned. His parents lightly joked about it and asked her parents to interrogate him now. There wasn’t much they wanted to ask that Andrea hadn’t told them already. Mostly, Mr. Payne expressed his gratitude for the help he was giving until eventually, the questions became about the business proposal and Wayne assuring them that doing it on a large scale would yield better results. The ladies were not satisfied with the flow of the conversation and started a different topic. But then, someone joined. “Hey, cousin.” After that, he greeted his uncle and aunt as well. “This is Jarred, my nephew,” Mrs. Anderson introduced to the others. “I see your hand on the lady’s back. Is this the same woman you were kissing senseless on your lap when I barged into your office?” Until now, he hasn’t considered what the actual situation was. His only goal was to tease him in front of his parents. “Get out.” “See, that’s the exact line you told me, bro.” He reached over for some fries. Andrea hid her face in her hands, embarrassed. “Don’t make me repeat myself.” Jarred finally sensed danger when Wayne stood up and glared at him. When he looked around the table, hmm . . . who are those older people? They seemed like someone’s parents. Aria gave him a kick from the side. “Oh . . . oh . . .” He finally realized the situation. He coughed before excusing himself and running out of there. Wayne was clearly irritated. He ordered someone on the side. “Don’t let anyone else enter, will you?” When he sat down, the atmosphere was awkward. Andrea peeked at him from between her fingers. What should they say? “Let’s eat,” he managed to say in a firm tone. He pulled her hands down, but her face remained red. “So . . .” His mother tried to control the situation. “When’s the wedding? Have you talked about it yet?” Aria coughed. Mom, this isn’t the time to ask that! Wayne turned to Andrea, telling her that she should answer that one. “W-We’ll wait and see. We don’t want to rush anything.” She only stuttered once. “Hmm, both of you are adults. A marriageable age. Wena, dear, do you want your daughter to get married early?” They had to smooth this out if they were to continue the earlier atmosphere. She wanted to happily talk about grandkids. Being called out, Andrea’s mother was surprised. “Well, if she’s ready, why not? It’s up to her.” Mrs. Anderson liked her in-law already. “I’ve been telling my son for years, but he never listened. I hoped that since he’s now dating someone, he has the intention to marry and settle down quickly.” Andrea couldn’t act like Wayne, who pretended that everything that was said was unrelated to him. “Hmm, I’ve been telling that to Andrea as well. She’s not getting any younger. All her classmates already have kids.” Aria silently chuckled. This was the opening her mother wanted. “Oh, kids. I envy others who already have grandchildren.” “Not everyone, Mom. There’s still Lizzy and Gwen,” Andrea replied too late. “Yes, three of you,” her mom humored her. “Then, let’s not rush anything. But at the rate you, guys, are going, when do you think is the latest you would agree to get married? Hmm?” Mrs. Anderson continued while passing dishes around. “Andrea?” her mother prompted. She turned to Wayne. “Why aren’t you speaking? You’re the man.” “Whatever the lady wants.” His reply essentially shifted it back to her. “Then, if I say in two years?” She was a little angry at how he was letting her answer everything. She was happy to see him glare. “No. How about in two months?” he suddenly challenged. Andrea gaped at him. Seeing how she started fuming, he did her one better. He leaned over and kissed her in front of everyone. Their little banter looked sweet. Of course, it naturally occurred, so there’s nothing to nitpick. Aria couldn’t hold it in. She exclaimed in excitement, hitting Annie on the shoulder. Before Andrea could say anything, he put something in her mouth. A chicken nugget. It all looked natural, so the parents were all pleased. Andrea chewed on it while looking at his plate. She stabbed on another and shoved it in his mouth. “But they act like kids,” Annie lamented. It was cute and all, but they’re both in their thirties. “That’s what love does, dear. You feel young again. Go and get yourself a boyfriend,” her mother replied. She should’ve closed her mouth. Now, she’s being attacked.
