Andrea propped her head on the one hand and thought about what she should say.
“You know, about him being married before, right?”
“Yes . . .”
“His ex-wife cheated on him. He’s still sensitive about that. I . . . the other day, I went to a café, and I saw an ex of mine. Maybe I should’ve left immediately. Anyway, I finished my coffee and cookie before leaving. Wayne heard about it and assumed I had purposely met him. You know, like an agreed meeting. He got jealous. Or something.” She’s not sure if she could call it that, jealousy. His anger most likely stemmed from a sense of betrayal and not jealousy.
“Have you explained things to him?”
“He didn’t let me speak. I guess he didn’t want to hear any of it. He just . . .” She waved a hand away to demonstrate her helplessness.
