Connor’s POV Two months later As I step out into the sunlight, a covered bowl of pasta salad in my hands, I look around at all my friends that are milling around my sister’s garden which is covered in balloons, streamers and a huge banner announcing Grace’s first birthday. One, my baby girl is one year old today, I’m not even sure how it happened. I glance toward my daughter who is walking on shaky legs, her hand gripped tightly by Abbey’s daughter, Robyn who helps her balance as she takes uncertain steps. After surfing the furniture for the last month, my clever girl finally made the leap and took her first steps a week ago and I won’t even lie, I blubbered like a damn infant as she came toward me, arms outstretched. Now that she’s found her feet though, she wants to be on them all
