Valentine's Day

Marco felt bad. He hadn't meant to bite her, but he'd gotten too excited and wanted her blood like no other.  HoweverAlianna hadn’t cared which puzzled him. After taking her to her bed for the night, Marco had quickly hustled to his room and locked himself in. A bunch of blood bags was soon devoured but they did nothing for him. His fangs were resilient and his gums raw with need. His eyes tinged pink as he fought the blood lust taking over him.  He was trying to fight it, but days after their pool dip, was valentines day. And Marco wanted to make Alianna happy and spend the day making her feel special. Not just one day, but to prove he could do it every day.  So he packed a picnic himself and picked a spot by the water. Sitting underneath a tree, he was laying out a blanket when Cassie appeared with a guard. “You wanted to see me, your highness?” Smiling at her, Marco admitted, “I know you and Alianna are the closest, and I wanted your opinion on this.” Waving around at his little setup, Marco grinned as Cassie picked some roses and began depetaling them.  Sprinkling them around, Cassie teased, “This is so sweet of you Prince Marco. She'll love it, and the effort.” Marco blushed shyly, “I want her to like me.” Cassie rolled her eyes, “She likes you Marco. She just wants to be special to you.” Cassie met his eyes as she told him, “Make her feel special and you’ll see her open up.”  After Cassie left to go and get Alianna for him, Marco breathed out shakily.  Alianna had always been special to him.  It had been raining hard that night, a thunder and lightning storm of hail and hell. In the dark castle void of many bodies, every crash of thunder or strike of lightning made them echo. It scared Alianna so bad she ran from her room, but she couldn’t go to her parents.  Door locked and embraced in nighttime activities, they didn’t hear her knock. And after another thundering boom, a streak of lightning filled the sky. It sent Alianna running in fear down the hall and into a room. Running to the bed, she climbed in and burrowed herself in Genesis’ arms. He woke up to her trembling and looked down at her crying.  In seconds he was awake and building a fort out of sheets and pillows. Playing with a flashlight, he made shadow puppets making Alianna laugh.  Athena peeked in worried since she had gone to check on her daughter and found her gone. And knowing how much she didn’t like storms. But as Alianna giggled as Genesis told her a funny story, fully unaware of the thunder going on, Athena knew she was in good hands.   “Marco?” Turning to see Alianna shyly smiling at him, Marco held out a hand for her, “Be my valentine?” Alianna squealed and ran into his arms making him chuckle happily. Her excited kiss made him melt, and it made him feel for a moment, that he wouldn’t lose her when she found out the truth.
