***Poppy***
His hand shot up, grabbing her wrist. She winced a little as he tossed it away from him. She stumbled to the side at how much force he used. I swear, he became taller as a low growl left him. His whole aura changed, and even I could feel it. I didn't want to shrink away like normal. I wasn't afraid of him, which was odd. I didn't feel threatened by him.
"What right do you think you have to touch a member of the royal court?" I couldn't tell if he was growling; it sounded more like a snarl. I watched as my stepsister's face paled. She took a small step back, holding her wrist with her other hand, resting it on her chest.
"Im sorry, I didnt mean." She scampered out,
An arm wrapped around me from behind, pulling me back. I stiffen,
"It's just me," Reggie says lowly next to my ear.
"What is going on?" My stepmother's voice carries through the room.
I watch as the Prince turns, facing her. I suck in a breath as I see his eyes are solid black,
"Do you not teach your daughter manners and the proper way to hold them selves when in front of royalty?"
I noticed the outline of his canines poking out under his top lip. He had little tufts of fur sprouting on his arms and face. He was angry. I had a sudden urge to reach out and touch him, I dont know why, but I felt like I needed to help him.
"Adele, what did you do?" My stepmother hissed at her. Adele shook her head, "Go upstairs!" Trinity yelled at her, making her jump. She spun around, scurrying up the steps,
"Im sorry, Prince Rafe, if my daughter was out of line, I will makesure she knows her place and properly conducts herself from now on,"
I watched as her words did nothing to settle him, but seemed to annoy him even more,
I dont know what made me, but I moved forward, reaching my hand out, letting it touch his forearm. I feel something like what felt like tingling dance along my skin. Making my breath hitch, A shiver ran through me.
His eye snapped to look at me. The black in them slowly faded as blue took back over them. He blinked a few times. I could feel the anger that was rolling off him in waves, leaving him as his body relaxed. I could feel her eyes on me,
He let out a small breath, shifting his eyes to look at my mother's stepmother,
"I will only say this once: you and your daughter need to mind your manners and properly carry yourself when you are in the presence of royalty."
She looked from him to me, "But she." She pointed at me,
"She what?" He cut her off. I went to step back, pulling my hand away from him, but he covered it with his other one, holding my hand to his arm,
Her eyes darted between us and then to where his hand covered mine,
"Im sorry, but I do not understand. She is touching you, and I didnt hear her ask?" You could hear the snarkness in her voice,
"She is not stepping out of line. Anyone standing here can see that I was angered she is offering me some support, there is nothing inappropriate about it, she is not offering herself in an ill manner like your daughter was."
Something flashed across her face, and she lowered her head,
"I do apologize, Prince Rafe. I will speak with my daughters,"
"See that you do," Not giving her another minute, He turned, placing a hand on my lower back. I tried not to go rigid. "Which way?" He asked me as he looked down at me,
I lifted a finger, pointing the way. He nodded, no sparing another look at my stepmother, and I heard someone chuckle behind me. Leading them to the door that leads up to my room. I stopped turning to face them.
"You can wait here; there isn't much room in there for all three of us." I hoped they wouldn't pick up on the small tremble in my voice. It's not that it was too small, even though it wasnt a big area, I didnt have much in there, so I just didnt want anyone to see the conditions I had learned to deal with. That and I wasnt sure they would fit anyway, as it has a low roof, seeing as it's on the third floor,
"Poppy, it is fine, we do not care what it looks like in there, all we care about is helping you retrieve your belongings."
His voice was soft as he spoke. Dropping my head, I nodded,
"Alright, but just to warn you, it's a tight fit."
"Im sure we will be fine,"
Pushing the door open, I started up the steps. The board creaked under their weight as they followed me up, stepping into the small area. I moved to the small dresser, pulling out the drawers. I had grabbed the duffel bag next to it and began to stuff my things in it.
Everything I owned would fit in it, so I wasnt worried about leaving anything behind.
"Um, Poppy," I heard him call me. Stopping what I was doing, I turned to face him. I had to hold my laughter cause seeing those two was rather funny. They were bent to the side as they couldn't stand up straight, and they were clearly too tall,
"Yes,"
"Is this where you stayed?" He was looking around,
Nodding my head, "Yeah, I really didnt mind it, being up here was my own little place, no one came up here,"
I could see on his face that he was pissed, I quickly turned, finishing stuffing my clothes in the bag, moving to get the small things I still had of my parents,
"What is it you want to take with you?"
"This is it." I held the bag up. He looked at it,
"That's it? You have nothing else?" His eyes moved around the small room,
Shaking my head. "No, I have what is important to me; this stuff here I found used, so it can stay."
He shot Reggie a look, with a nod, he stepped forward, reaching out, taking the bag from me,
"I can carry it," I tell him,
Shaking his head, "It's alright, Flower, I got it," He gave me a small smile,
"Thank you," I tell him as I move past him, heading for the door,
Making our way back down, I spotted my stepmother waiting at the front door. She noticed the bag Reggie was carrying, her eyes moved to me, then to the Prince,
"Would I be able to have a word with Poppy?"
The Prince stepped forward, "What about?' He looks down at her,
"Oh, um, well, if she is leaving, I just wanted to say bye to her."
"Well, you can do that here, with us being here."
I could see the anger flash in her eye before it left. She did not like it when she did not get her way. Her eyes moved back to me, and I didnt need her to speak; her eyes said it all. I know she wasnt wanting to say goodbye to me, she was looking to rip me a new one and bash on me about what had happened at the pack house,
She just shook her head, then moved to the side, letting us pass. Reggie rushed forward, pulling the door open for me. I didnt hesitate, I slid in, hoping this weight would lift more when I was no longer under her thumb. Hearing the door shut, I didnt talk, just looked out the window. I felt a sadness wash over me, leaving the home that was once my father's and the place I grew up and loved, but maybe this will be a good thing.
