The drive to Esmond was an additional three hours from the Black Village and , as we drove on , the adrenaline that had courses through my body had began to fizzle out until throbbing , unbearable pain began to shoot up and down my entire body . My knees burned whenever j moved my legs . My face felt like I had the heaviest of chains wrapped around it . My left eye had swollen shut . My lower lip had grown double its size in the most horrid way .
Maggie drove faster than normal and I assumed that was to get as far away from the Black Village and as closer towards the Kingdom as possible . Once we reached Esmond , I would be untouchable .
