I pressed my ear against the door , waiting to hear any sign of whoever it was approaching my door . It sounded all quiet for a while . Maybe whoever it had been left but that thought was halted because I didn' t hear any retrieving footsteps indicating that they had left . The stillness on the other side of the thick door remained for a few more seconds before I heard the steady footsteps but it was not moving away and , if anything , it was approaching my door . I took a few steps away from the door not wanting to have it ram in me should the door be pushed open . I felt goose flesh rise at the back of my neck and spread down to my spine .
