4. What am I going to do when I find her? Daxter My date left a while ago and hasn't returned. I see the party organizer approaching me with a bit of unease on her face. "Mr. Jacobs, I apologize. Our model felt unwell and had to leave. Please, keep enjoying the party, and if you wish for someone else to accompany you for a drink, I'm here if you need company." I look at her, and her red hair reminds me of my Sara. But no, it's not her. "It's okay, Mrs. Robles, don't worry. I notice your husband doesn't look very happy. You should probably cheer him up tonight". I watch her roll her eyes. She is a young and beautiful woman, and her husband, though well-preserved, looks much older. "Don't worry. I told him I would be busy and to wait for me at home, but he didn't want to. So he has to wait." These two amuse me a bit. It's clear they love each other despite everything. "I don't want to be the reason a jealous husband tries to hit me. Don't worry, I'll be fine". The lady smiles and then, somewhat reluctantly, says goodbye to continue mingling with the guests. "Boo!" I hear someone come up behind me and bring their mouth close to my ear. "I can keep you company, darling." I roll my eyes, annoyed. Well, here we go. "Hey Cass, I didn't know you were invited". In front of me stands my occassional hookup, Casandra Carson. "You know I always go to all the important places and wherever I know you're going to be". I try to smile, but it just turns into a grimace. Of course, she always appears everywhere. What surprises me is that she didn't show up the day I met my fiery redhead. "I see. Do you have some kind of radar?" She gives me a mischievous smile. Does she have one? "Hahaha! I love your sense of humor, darling. Well, I don't have a radar, but I do have excellent contacts." She gives me a self-satisfied look, but I start to get annoyed. If it's someone from the company, they'll have to answer to me, and of course, they should consider themselves fired from this moment, but an unmistakable scent reaches my nose. I've got a good nose for perfumes. "I think they just called me 'radar'" I turn and see the most wonderful and beautiful woman in the world. Sofía Jacobs, my mother. "Mom? What are you doing here?" My voice betrays my surprise, as she rarely leaves her city and the surroundings of my father, who cares for her like a treasure. "I heard about this charity event, and you know I always like to support, but I also found out that one of the organizers was the great designer and philanthropic lawyer, Liliana Robles. I had to come to meet her. And since I saw you competed for a dress, I imagined it was for me. That's why you're my favorite." My brother Michael snorts. He is the one who always accompanies her, but I know I am truly her favorite. "Ah, I hadn't seen you, 'clone.'" I tease my brother, since we are twins. Being the older one and named after my mother's brother and my father's best friend, I tend to be favored by my parents. "Hello, big dummy!" he retorts, which makes me laugh. "Alright, alright, stop bickering and let's enjoy the party." I smirk. In reality, this event has become quite boring, so I'm thinking of leaving. "I'm leaving, Mom. I have a lot to take care of tomorrow. You guys stay and have fun." I lean in to give my mother a kiss on the cheek and just give my brother a small nod of farewell. I leave, and the driver quickly opens the car door for me. "Did you have fun tonight?" The man asks me. He's been working with me since I was in college, so we trust each other. "You could say that. It would have been more fun, but my companion left." The man smiles, probably thinking I'm talking about something else. But I'm not. I just wanted to chat with Rubí. The main reason was that her perfume reminded me of her. "Earlier, a beautiful girl asked about the owner of your limousine. Maybe you saw her inside. Very beautiful, dark hair." He starts the description, and I know who he's referring to. "That's exactly who I mean. But there will be another chance to meet. Let's leave it up to fate." My driver smiles and knows that I need some peace right now, so he puts up the partition in the car. I dial my investigator's number without a second thought. Tonight, I remembered her more than ever. "Tell me you have a lead," I speak coldly. Time keeps passing, and I still can't find her. "I'm sorry, but no. Lucifer must have her hidden. But if the information she took is useless to him, most likely, she'll be the one to approach, and you need to stay alert." Yes, I've thought about that too, but in my anxiety to find her, I'm making mistakes. "I'll stay on the lookout. I have to leave the country, but I'll be back in fifteen days. Keep looking." I hang up the call and start thinking. The thing I'm not sure about is... what will I do when I find her? Sara As I ride in the cab, I receive a message: "You need to come as soon as possible. It’s important." I sigh heavily. I hadn’t heard from "Demon" in days, so I assumed everything was going smoothly with the information I provided. "Driver, can we make a quick stop? Will you wait for me?" The man nods and takes me to the location. When I arrive, I rush inside, and they let me in. "I’m here. What’s the issue?" Damon looks up from the table, his gaze lingering. I know he feels something for me, but I don’t feel the same. "You look stunning, Lucifer." I like it when they call me by my nickname, though I never show it. "I have a cab waiting. Make it quick." He smirks, amused. "Tell him to leave. I'll give you a ride." I look at him and shake my head. That's not up for discussion. "No, tell me what I need to know. I insist." I urge him, and then he begins to explain. "The information you brought is insufficient. Unfortunately, they're already onto it. Now we need to find a way for you to infiltrate again. Do you think you can do it again? We have more members in the organization." He implies I'm not that crucial. "I can do it. Just tell me what I need to know." He tries to act tough, but I can be just as tough. "Okay, I'll send you everything." I just nod and got ready to leave. "Wait, Luci, I'll come with you." From one of the doors, my 'Cerberus' comes out. "Okay, let's go." I smile and leave with the guy who doesn't stop talking. When we arrive home, someone is waiting for me by the door. "Hello, grandpa, I'm here now." Franco smiles. I just hope he won't ask for information, but I know it's inevitable. It's time to talk.
