Chapter 9 Valentine's

1540 Words
Caiden manages to return home for one week as soon as the one month probationary period ended before leaving again for their actual school year opening. As for me, I am enrolled in a state university in the neighboring province. I am planning to take up law as my lifetime career and passion. Days, weeks, and months have passed. Finally the month of hearts arrived- Valentine’s Day. Caiden sent me an invitation to be his date two weeks prior to the event. I am looking at my reflection in the mirror. Geez! It feels like another debut scenario for me as I am wearing a night makeup. My high slit long red gown touches the ground, gently spreading itself like rose petals. It showcases my long flawless leg making me feel more like a woman showing off to her man. The girls around are also busy checking up themselves before the event start. Tonight marks the formal annual celebration of MMA Valentine’s Day. From the girls dressing room, we can already hear the lively rhythms of violins outside. I can see cadets escorting their partners outside to line up for the official grand red carpet opening. I can’t believe that I am in one of the country’s government founded prestigious school attending a big event. “Babe…” A voice from behind snaps me from spacing out. I slowly turn around. The owner of the voice turns out to be the man of my dreams. He looks so damn good and noble-like with is white class A uniform. He was grinning from ear to ear. “I bet I might erase that luscious red lipstick you had on, if we don’t proceed outside now.” Gosh! He’s already into my lips already. I immediately passed him by and march towards the exit. Well, as much as I am craving for his lips, I can’t afford to ruin my look for tonight. He followed me. “I was just kidding little pres.” He whispers to my ear as he catches up with my pace. “Shall we…” He offered his arms to escort me. Acting like a gentleman before threatening my lips huh. “You look beautiful.” He said with curled lips as to give a smile. My cheeks are turning pink I guess, throughout the year that we’ve been together I can’t still stop myself from blushing. “Happy Valentine’s.” I accepted his hand and followed him as he guides us to the line. I even heard him greet his seniors as we make our way. We fall in line and we waited for our turn to grace the elegantly designed red carpet. I spread my vision around to entertain myself while waiting for our turn. I guess those partners leaning close to each other are couples. And those that have distance between them are not really couples. I mean they are just partners but not in a relationship. I am assuming things now. And a vague partner in front of us catches my attention. Neither of them was wearing a gown. And reality hits me. How can I forget that? “Babe…hmm…You have female cadets too right?” I asked. “Yap. Why ask babe?” He asked me back. “Nothing. I am just kinda flustered to see couples in both slacks.” I then pouted my lips to point the couple in front of us. “Stop pouting love, I might kiss here.” He said. My lips was not the subject here but couples the in front. Haist! The line moves and after the two more couples, it will be our turn. I smiled brightly. I wanna make my man feel proud around me. “I love you.” I heard him whispers to my ear before marching forward. That was a very effective tactic of making me smile genuinely. Cameras and applause welcomes as we take our seats in the assigned tables. Caiden leads the way. I must say the school was well organize in terms of events like this. At about less than an hour, the red carpet opening was finally done, proceeding to the next part of the party which is the talks and speeches. We barely listened to it as the co-cadets of my boyfriend together with their partners are starting up our own conversation within the table we are seated. “I bet Caiden must be really lucky to have a gorgeous lady in his side.” One of the cadet named Owen said. “Don’t worry bro. You will come to meet your very own girl soon.” Caiden responded. Owen was still a single man as I heard from him. He’s partner today was his sister. I am starting to feel something going on in my abdomen. “Kindly excuse me…natures call.” I politely excused myself when I feel like my bladder can no longer hold the water inside my body. “Will you be alright on your own?” Caiden asked me. Oh yes, I don’t know where the bathroom is. My silence was enough for him to know that I needed his help. “Alright I’ll come with you.” He said with a playful smile. I just followed him as he walks towards the back of the gym where the event was held. Great I saw the sign for ladies comfort room. I handed him my pouch. “I’ll go in.” “Do you want me to join you there?” He teased. Ugh! Babe getting really tempting nowadays. “Kidding, I am prohibited there.” He laughs. Nah! MMA and it’s rules. I opened the door and saw a girl cadet entering the first cubicle. Lucky enough, the second cubicle was not occupied. I did what I have to do and opened the door as I am finish. To my surprise, I saw the girl cadet again. She looks at me. “Hi?” She greeted feeling confused of how to say it and ended like asking a question. I didn’t expect to see her. I mean she is the last person I would want to see. I am that bad. Forget it. “Oh Bianca…It was nice seeing you here.” I lied. At least I wanted to make the atmosphere light though we never really make good friend back then. She was Caiden’s first love and first heartbreak. But once Caiden started dating me, she showed up wanting him back. “Long time no see.” She offered her hand. As part of being matured woman, I got her hands and shake it lightly. “So you were studying here?” I don’t know what to ask her either. “Hmm…yah…we can say that,” pointing on her uniform. Her hair was now cut short. Her skin is now tanned but still she’s pretty as before. “Babe…what’s taking you so long?” I heard Caiden’s voice outside. “I gotta go.” I said before leaving her. Not that I am insecure but why would Caiden hide me this fact. As soon as we started walking back to the venue, I asked him. “Why didn’t you tell me that Bianca is here?” “You never asked me how can I tell you then.” He replied. Goodness! “Do I have to ask that?” My temper was really on the edge. “It thought it wasn’t a big deal.” His answer disappoints me. “You thought? Sorry mister but what you thought is far different from mine.” Of course it was a big deal for me. Why boys often miss out on things? He stops and held my arms. “Look. I am sorry.” I stay silent. “She’s on the past. And now…we are on the present…you and me. You are my present and my future as well.” ‘My future as well' I felt like all my doubts were compensated. Why do he has to be a good speaker? I couldn’t be mad for him for long. “Promise?” I am like a child offering a pinky promise. “I do.” When the talks are over, we partied on the dance floors with the cadets leading the steps. It felt really nice dancing with him. I almost forget my encounter with Bianca. Even if admit it or not, it is natural for me as Caiden’s girl to feel threatened about his past provided that she was her first love. After this night, I will be returning to my usual life in the province, and Caiden and Bianca will be staying here together. Just how unfair the circumstances are. Indeed, it really takes trusts and faith to withstand a long distance relationship.
