Rex POV
I couldn’t think.
My body moved on instinct, tearing through the blazing field, shielding Rose behind me. Smoke choked the air, thick and suffocating, turning the world into a blur of fire and screams. But I didn’t stop. I couldn’t.
I had to protect them,all of them.
“Julian!” I yelled over the chaos, barely dodging a fireball. “Have the attackers been identified?”
“No!” he shouted back. “There’s nobody here, at least not on the ground!”
What? Fireballs were being hurled like rain, but no enemy was in sight. My eyes scanned wildly. Where the hell were they attacking from?
Another fireball sliced through the smoke, aimed straight for us. I yanked Rose away, shielding her as we ducked just in time.
