Darlene’s pov It was supposed to be the best day of my life. If the sorrow of losing everyone I loved had not cast a shadow over my life, it would have been the most joyous day. I lost everyone I cared about, except my mate, of course, and he was worth living for. My sister would have been my maid of honour, while Lizzie and a few other friends could have been my bridesmaids. Ben, of course, would have been the ring bearer. It would have been lovely. We would have had a beautiful white wedding, like I used to dream of when I was a little girl. It would have been perfect. A deep sigh escaped my lips as I glanced at the lacy veil waiting to be picked. My eyes drifted towards the diamond ring Stephen gave me. I smiled. It was still perfect.
