Jasper lay face up on the hard concrete ground a few feet from where his car exploded. His eyes were closed and there was a slight ringing in his ear but the pain let him know that he was still alive. When he opened his eyes, he saw Jabari standing over him, face full of pain and covered in dirt. He was yelling something that Jasper couldn’t hear. Suddenly sound came back to him and he felt pain throughout his entire body, “JAS!! JAS!!” Jabari yelled over and over.
“I’m OK,” Jasper said, as he looked around and saw a fire and chaos where his car used to be. People were crying and running around while cops and news reporters swarmed in luckly the two of them were out of view of the others.
“Can you stand?” Jabari asked, as he reached down and grabbed his brother’s hand to pull him up.
