When we made it back to the pack house, the kids split off from Andrew and me and headed to their bedrooms to get cleaned up after the hike. Andrew and I followed their leads and got ourselves cleaned up too before we headed to his main office downstairs to call Mia. I couldn’t help but overthink the entire time that I was in the shower about what was going to happen when I called her out of the blue today. Would she be mad? Of course she would be mad, but mad about what? Would she be mad that it took me this long to call her or would she be mad that I called her period? No, I can’t think like this. I take a deep breath and allow the hot water to wash over my body as I rinse away the grime and suds. I have to get my head on straight or else this conversation isn’t going to go well at all.
