Aurora breathed a sigh of relief the moment she got inside the car. Clutching her head with her hands, she exhaled loudly. Thinking about last night’s events, her leg started to tremble, and she started sweating profusely. The image of the little kid lying in her arms, clinging to her as she tried her best to calm him down reminded her of a similar event that had happened in the past.
An event that completely changed her life and snatched everything from her. The familiar scent of blood, vehicles crashing and the faint crying of a three-year-old child, every bit of that horrible nightmare flashed through her mind, making her heart race. The image of the blood-soaked child as he clung to her body desperately flashed in her mind.
“Mam, are you okay?”
“Mam?”
The vber driver taking a look at the passenger through the mirror, started calling as he felt something was not right.
“Mam.”
Getting no response from the lady, he slowed down the vehicle.
The sudden voice of the stranger broke the chain of ominous thoughts and Aurora took in a deep breath.
“Yes. I’m fine. I’m fine.”
Assuring the cab driver, she continued taking deep breaths to calm her anxious heart and mind. Reminding herself that the past would not return to itself as she was now in the film city. Thinking about the past three years she had spent developing herself, she clenched her jaw hard and the surrounding air changed.
“I will make their lives worse than hell.”
With that in her mind, she leaned back on the seat and closed her eyes.
*********
In the hospital, little Jackson slowly opened his eyes. He looked around to see his uncle sleeping on the chair and there was no one else beside him. Remembering the pretty angel who held him in the elevator, he slowly got up. Just then the door to the room was opened, and his father entered the room.
“How are you feeling Jackson?”
“Any pain?”
Nodding his head from side to side, he clicked his tongue.
“That’s good then. We can go home now. Your grandparents are worried sick and have been waiting for you since last night.”
His little face fell and he pouted his lips. He did not want to bother anyone, knowing adults were very busy with their work. But this time he definitely made them worried. Nodding his head, he was about to get down from bed when he suddenly remembered the pretty angel.
“Are you looking for her? She already left in the morning when you were asleep.”
Pouting his mouth, little Jackson nodded his head. He wanted to see the pretty angel and take her home with him to play. However, it seemed like she was also busy, like other adults. Shaking his head, he simply got down and walked towards his father.
Oliver observed each minute expression on his son’s face and wondered about the possibility that flickered a ray of hope.
“Sebastian.”
Tapping on his younger brother’s shoulder, he woke him up from his nap. Soon, the three of them left the hospital, catching everyone’s attention.
On the way home, little Jackson kept himself busy thinking about the pretty angel. Her soft hands that held him, stroked his hair and her sweet angel voice as she sang him a lullaby. Just thinking about her made him smile and he wanted to see her again. He wanted to play with her and make her his first friend. Lost in his own world, he did not notice his father observing him and kept smiling, thinking about the lady.
Upon reaching home, he was surrounded by his grandparents and all the helpers. His grandmother could not stop crying and he felt sad seeing her tears.
“It’s all because of you.”
“Who told you to take him to the mall?”
“Why did you not do a better job at keeping him safe?”
His grandfather started yelling and cursing his uncle Sebastian for being careless.
Knowing the situation, Jackson immediately gave his puppy-eye look and trembled slightly in his grandmother’s arms.
“Dear, that’s enough. You’re scaring the child. Oliver, take him to his room and I will send some snacks for him.”
Being carried by his father, he looked at his uncle and got a big smile from him in return. It did not take him long to get fresh and upon seeing his favorite snacks on the table, he slowly forgot about everything else. With his belly full, he got busy with his daily activities. Opening up his V-pad, he was about to play his favorite cartoon when something caught his eye. Clicking on that video, he saw the ad which was about a herbal soap. However, what caught his attention as not the soap but the girl in the soap. He saw the pretty angel from last night, holding the soap and playing with it. She was smiling brightly as she rubbed the soap on her hand and smelled the soap. Once the advertisement stopped, he played it again to see her for the second time. He knew nothing about the pretty angel, but now that he found her, he would definitely ask her to be friends with him.
Holding the vpad, he slid down from the bed and walked out of the room to find his father and show him the ad. Seeing his father busy on a call, he waited for a minute before tugging his pants lightly.
“Excuse me. Let me call you back in a minute.”
“What happened?”
Extending his arm, he held the vpad and played the ad. His little hands were doing their best to hold the pad steady. His innocent eyes sparked as the ad played, hoping his father would find the pretty angel.
Once the ad stopped, he lowered his hands and eagerly looked at his father.
“I will try my best to find her.”
Those words brought a smile to his face and he nodded his head. Happily skipping around, he went back to his room and got busy watching the same ad again and again. He thought of all the things be would do once he became friends with the pretty angel. He would share delicious meals with her, give her a lot of things and also give her the fruits from the garden plucked by him. Just imagining those things made him happy and giggle out loud.
Meanwhile, Oliver exhaled a loud breath as he removed the neck tie. He had already heard everything about the lady from Sebastian and also witnessed her being gentle with Jackson in the morning. There was something suspicious about her, especially after witnessing how closed and aloof Jackson came running once he saw her in the ad. He had no idea she was a model, now that she was in the entertainment industry, finding her would be a piece of cake. Fixing a meeting with her would not be a problem. After all, he had to express his gratitude to her for saving his child. Using the second meeting as a chance to investigate, he would determine whether the enchanted beauty was a friend or foe.
There had been many women who used underhanded techniques in the past to approach him and his son and he made sure to keep all of them far away from his precious son. Out of nowhere, a strange woman saved his son from a terrible incident and that did not sit right with him. Browsing the internet, he found the advertisement and forwarded it to Sebastian.
“Seb, that’s the girl. Look into her in detail.”
Throwing the phone onto the bed, he slowly unbuttoned his shirt. The bright light made his body shine and his perfectly six six-packed abs were reflected in the mirror. As he unbuttoned the pants and pulled it down, a huge scar from his abdomen was seen covering all the way to his thighs. His long legs seemed graceful as he walked to the bathroom. Standing under the shower, he let the water droplets do it’s magic as he used this time to cool his head. That girl’s smile while playing with Jackson flashed in his mind, suddenly reminding him of his deceased wife.
