Mabel . . The water sparkled a sharp blue beneath the sky, contrasting nicely with the white sand. The sand felt warm against my feet. My eyes swept across the landscape, and truly I was pleased. I had expected it to be warm since it was summer, but it was quite cool as the breeze hummed across the place. Sammy set out our umbrella and laid out a mat beneath it. I sifted through the bag and brought out sunscreen. “Here.” I stretched out my hand, handing him the bottle of sunscreen. “Don’t forget to put on sunscreen.” Sammy took it from me. “Why don’t I rub it for you then you do it for me,” he said, his lips curving into that lustful smile.
