Evan had been looking for Kari all damn day.
She had slipped away during training, vanished after sparring with Alec, and none of the warriors could tell him where she had gone. She missed lunch. When he finally tried to reach her through the mindlink, now that he finally could, she had a block up.
By the time dinner came and went without a glimpse of her, he was pacing like a caged animal. The sun was setting when he finally caught her scent in the hallway. He followed it straight to her door and didn’t bother to knock before pushing it open.
Kari sat cross-legged in the center of her bed, hair still damp, wearing her pajamas. She looked up at him, startled by the force with which he entered.
“Where the hell have you been?” Evan demanded, shutting the door behind him.
