Kari woke up curled into Evan, her face pressed against his chest. His scent wrapped around her, cypress and juniper warm against her senses. His skin was still faintly heated from sleep, his steady heartbeat under her cheek soothing in its rhythm. She stretched languidly, feeling the drag of muscles pleasantly sore from the night before. They had barely left the room yesterday, even ordering dinner in. It had been indulgent and exhausting, in the best possible way.
