Evan walked into the Alpha’s office to find Mark sitting behind Ty’s desk, slouched low in the chair. His black hair was rumpled, dark circles shadowed his eyes, and deep lines framed his mouth. He barely looked up as Evan crossed the room and sat in one of the armchairs across from him. “How’s Kari?” Mark asked, voice rough. “Not good.” When Evan had finally gotten her back to the pack house yesterday, she had sat beneath the shower until the water turned cold. He’d carried her out, dried her off, and dressed her in soft sweats. She’d only spoken once, to ask for Mia.
