Sunflower:Chapter four

                                                                                    Nora POV

My grandmother and Ava were arguing about books and I should have told Ava that they're no arguing with my grandmother. My grandmother order an Uber, Ava prepared for us on how her parents are. She also gave us some easy going cheat codes as well. When we got to her house, her parents were at the door with a greeting. I had a weird feeling about this and it was good to show because the Diaz's were there; I knew I'm underdressed. Ava's mother was wearing a suit dress and the step-mom was wearing was wearing a pink lace see-through dress. Logan's eyes were wandering, and I notice that Mr. Diaz was not even in the room. Nina was wearing a simmering blue shirt dress. Mr. Diaz came in from the other room in a black suite jacket with a white suit dress, shirt, and black pants. Ava's father was a blue suit with a white shirt. My grandmother came in a white blouse and skirt no matter she goes she always dressed respectfully.

'I see you told our other guests the dinner requirement. If I would have known they were coming, I would have stayed out longer, ' Ava said 

I know Logan was living for this, but he was on her father's radar. Ava ran upstarts and slammed her door. My grandmother sat at the table like there was no issue in the world that would stop her. Nina got up from the table.

'I'm go check on her after all, she my best friend, ' She said 

Was that supposed to be a play of something shaded that I knew her longer than the unknown girl who just walked in her life. Nobody stopped her. I didn't bother I wanted to know how she was going to bring Ava downstairs so I went along with her. We walked into Ava's room. Ava was on her bed, looked distressed as ever.

'Ava, daddy and Kelly thought it would be a great idea to have family dinner at your parent' She said 

She even sounded spoiled, daddy said. I think I just threw up in my mouth. Why are some people the way they are? Now Nina was just showing off the things her father gave her, like a bracelet and the new apple watch.

'Nina, nobody wants to see the things a spoiled child like you has. Tell everyone we will be out eventually, ' I said 

Nina can listen cause she did as she was told. I locked Ava's room door after her; I opened a window and laid some pillow to make it seem Ava was just sleeping in her bed. Ava questioned what I was doing. I explained everything to her. She followed me out the window. I explained to her she can't take her car she explained that there was a gas station. We walked over to the gas station where she order an Uber I asked her to set an Uber to a tattoo place I wanted to get a tattoo done. When the Uber got here we got in the car, my grandmother texted me to ask where I was.

Me: Keep this between you and me, we both got something out this you get a dinner and I get to show Ava the real me

Grandma: Fine, but I hope you were smart about how you exit. Your mother raised you better to be lousy with your exit.

Me: Yeah, I know mom raised me right 

Grandma: So did I, now leave me be they have ribs 

When we got to the tattoo place, I made sure my I. d is nice and shiny. Ava grabbed my I. d and looked at my birthday.

'Happy early birthday, you 're now an adult after next month I'm going to be seventeen in a few weeks, ' She said 

I wanted to change the subject before Ava finds out that I don't celebrate my birthday and then she thinks I should go all out to do something. My father never celebrated it after mom died so I never needed a reason to celebrate after that. We walked into the tattoo parlor. Ava grabbed a book, amazed to see the images of the papers. She in the chair next to me seeing the heart and scrolls with names.

'What are you going to get?' She asked 

' I have to get my sleeve tattoo done, ' I replied ' I have to get it colored it' 

I removed my sleeve to show her the art on my arm; she amazed by my arm I had it done all they need to do is color in the black white was just too boring in my eyes. Life just needs some color and I wanted that in my artwork. Ava kept looking at the pages until something. There was an infinity sign and heart and stars.

'You should get one, ' I said 

'Oh no, yes my parents let me drink but I think they will freak if they notice I came home with a tattoo, ' She replied 

Her parents were over the top crazy. I finally convince her to get one she wanted the get the heart and stars. They called Ava's name first since they consider what she was getting was simple and easy; I walked in there with her since it was her first tattoo and I was there for support.

‘Girlfriend?’ the artist asked  

'Yeah, she here for moral support, ' Ava said 

She didn't correct her, she just let the tattoo artist do her thing. Ava looked at me as she got her it done. She was biting her tongue, cursing under her breath. I had to record this because I would not let her live down her first tattoo. We sat there for an hour. They showed it to her, wrapped it up, and she paid them. Now it was. There were a few parts that needed to be colored in and that will take a good hour or too I don't place on having the whole thing. Ava held my hand I wanted to know who was going to tell her I was fine. That this wasn't my first tattoo and it would not be my last. Once they finished I handed her the money and we were were on our way. There was a diner crossed the street and malts. It was going on twelve and I could tell that we were both getting hunger. 

'Diner, up ahead, and then I'll take you home, ' I said 

'No, you 're getting cake for your birthday it's almost twelve, ' She said 

I rolled my eyes and I know I will never talk her out of this. We walked into the diner and they gave us our booth the moment we walked in. Our server came a few minutes later. Ava order a burger with cheeses and fries and vanilla malt and order just a chocolate malt with fries.

'I guess this would have tp be our frist date' She said 

'What does this not qualify as a first date for you getting ink on you body and escaping a family dinner' I said 

'No, not that I just wanted to know if there was going to be a second one, ' She said 

I don't know if there is going to be a second one, I didn't even know this was one in the beginning I mean the signs were all there an I ignored them.The food showed up and I pushed past Ava's question, I dipped my fries in my malt.

'Date number two will be better than this one, planned also' I assured her 

She smiled, and the finished her burgers she asked for her fries to go, I finished my malt and fries; we got up and walked toward the door. I order an Uber and we waited for our Uber.Kissing here felt like a natural but I didn't know if she wanted to and I would not kiss her without her consent.The Uber came, and I ignored that fact that I wanted to kiss her, she was going on and on about how she wanted dye her hair.The diver kept looking at us in the mirror and I don't know what the f**k is his issue, when we go to her house.We got out of the car, we sat on her stairs, Ava keep looking at the door the lights were off.

'What's you deal?' she asked 'like are you scared to kiss me' 

'Do you want me to kiss you' I asked?

She nodded. I cupped her cheek and pulled her closed to me and kissed her felt like second nature, I held her hand because why not. I pulled away because if I didn;t we we're going to be here forever

                                                                                  6 months later

Ava and I lost touch. She also got her friends back and it was time for prom and I didn't want to go but Rosabella wanted to go to a high school prom being homeschool.At lunch we sat outside eating our food, Rosabella and I sat one table with Kenny and my other friends and Ava and hers.Kenny notice I was staring and told me to stop before Rose notice. Logan came up to her and placed a quick peck on her lip.

'She back with that tool he never going to change, ' I said 

I got up and threw my lunch away I'm just going to spend my lunch period in that libary I don't have time for this. The flyers for prom were all up vote Nina as queen, vote Ava and hell Kenny even in this s**t show. Scholl was over after lunch I got home and my dad was home but he was drunk and my grandmother was reading a book about something.

'Are you going to prom?' Grandma asked 

'No'

'Why not?' She asked 

I explained I didn't feel in the mood. An hour later Kenny and Rose were in my room trying to convince me to go to prom and I took the bait and agreed. If it sucks I just go home, it's not like I have to stay. I could stay how a rematch star butterfly.They were ready Kenny short black dress and Rose in a long rose pink dress. I came out in a dress with flowers on the lace layer and it was solid black, Kenny's eyes raised.

'You have this love for flower is amazing' Kenny said 

's**t, you love flowers should have gotten some' Rose panic 

We laughed and assured her it was an inside joke, surprised to know that my friends have got a limo for prom.I tried to contain myself of seeing Ava tonight, we got there it was lady and frog themed because they thought princess was to high for high school student. Someone spiked the punch, I grabbed some on my way around the dance room.Ava was there joking with her friends and I was just drinking away? I wanted to know, and this was the perfect time because they called out prom queen.

'I don't deserve this okay, in your eyes you want queen that won't lie about herself, I'm Ava Kinsella and I'm in love with Nora Rivers, I'm also a proud Pansexual woman' She said 

Rose was long gone. I could see Nina eye's twice and Ava got down off the stage and to me. She was wearing a black sunflower dress and she handed me the plastic crown and placed it on my head, she held my hand everyone stared at us like what the f**k were they looking at.

'Kenny, told me how much you like sunflowers and Rose helped me pick out this,' She said 'Nora Rivers, will you be my queen'

I cried and nodded my head, she handed me a small box with a hotel key in it, she kissed me and there was some cheering and some booing. Ava and I held hands, I checked my text messages and I read the one text that I had from Rose.

Rose: I know about you and Ava, Kenny told me and be happy with the one your with.

Me: I hope you find love in your life to 

Ava and I left the prom, we got in the car but I needed some questions an answered about something, before I just go at all this.

'You dropped me like a fly and for what' I said 

'My father's running for mayor and he wanted to show the world his value and I guess having a daughter who l***q friendly and I was a part of his campaign and I didn't want anyone that I care bout to be a part of that, I only had Logan around because he loves the light and cameras' She said 

So what she was protecting me from her father because he using he's family as game pieces and i'm glad Ava didn't give him the satisfaction of using her. Ava stopped at the diner we went to on our first and only date.  We order our food, Ava ignored the looks we were getting, we had the same order as last time and she explained to me what happened over that time.Nina and her tried to be together but it didn't work out for them and they realized they were better off as friend. 

' I can't picture you two together, ' I said 

' Yeah, we'll it happened she wanted to see how it be like to try it with a girl and I wasn't ready to have s*x yet, ' She said 

I guess Kenny was wrong opposite don't attract sometimes and I should know that as I grabbed my fries, Ava took some of my fries i tried to stop her from getting them, Ava didn't stop, I order another plate of fries.We shared the fries and then paid for our food when we got out of the restaurant; she let me drive as she put in the hotel's address. Her phone went off and so did mine, which I found weird because I didn't have many friends, it just keep going off.I asked Ava to check it for me since I was driving she told me that people loved our prom coming out. I was out before prom but i'll give them that; we arrived at the hotel and it was nice not like motel the movies. She took me in her arms and took care of me, we finshed an hour late and it left me in a state of euphoria. I tried to contain myself from what just happend. We laid in the bed; the sheets attached to our bodies Ava laid on her side staring at me; I pushed her hair back. We evatually went to sleep, my phone went off at seven in the morning Ava was gone and I had a text meassages.

Ava: I went to your house and got an outfit of of you closet and I'm getting breakfast at the diner

I thought  it was all a dream and that Ava and I didn't do what I thought we did but it was real and amazing and I don't know how to explain the state beside a felleing of euphoria between us. There was a knock at the door and Ava with bags.She changed into a rompered and some slide, she placed the food on the tabel, I gave her a peck on the lips.I walked into the bathroom to get ready. 

'What's the plan for today?' I asked 

'I was thinking about going to the libary and maybe the beach' She replied 

'Okay i'll get ready, did you call your parents before they think I kidnapped you' I said 

I grabbed the plate of pancake and started to cut them up, we had to be out of here by eleven o'clock, Ava called her parents to tell them that she was fine and she will be home to get her swim suit and she will be fully home tonight.They didn't care and I wasn't suprise that they didn't care at all, Ava put her phone down and ate her phone went off she asked me to check it.

Nina: Ava let's talk about this you choses Nora over me

Ava: I wanted someone who wouldn't use me for a lesbian s*x toy 

Nina: I didn't used you I loved you and you picked her 

I rolled my eyes at Nina pleading with Ava and I couldn't care less about Nina, she couldn't care about Ava's happiness. Her judgment of thinking that she can get everyone she wants but in reality nobody wants someone who can't love herself that Nina's issue she need to love herself to know genuine love.

Nina: I'll make you regret this 

Ava: Regret what not loving you no more than a friend, Nina that all your family is insane with your brother and your step-mom realtionship, your father mad with power and then there you little Nina who can't love herslef.

I didn't have time for Nina and foolness, I had to plan for a graudation and then I had to get ready to go to New York. I got into a coummunity college, I didn't tell Ava yet out of the both of us I got into college, I was debating if I should tell her now.

' I got into a new York commuinty college' I said 

'Nora that amazing news when do you leave?' She asked

'In thr fall but I will be moving in with Kenny until then' I replied 

She was supportive like I knew she would be but I felt bad that I maybe leaving here to deal with all the drama of next year our that I would feel like I will be forget her or us.
