“Follow the lights.” The voice startled me awake. It was Morgan’s voice. My eyes flew open, the forest was still dark, and I could sense we still had a couple of hours before sunrise. Daniel had finished his shift and he was snoring soundly next to me, not too close that our bodies touched but close enough so that I could feel heat radiating from him. I looked around, thanking fate that I had night vision, and noticed Lucinda was the one standing guard. I pushed my body up, it was still sore from where the creature had clawed at me but most of it had begun to heal. I was sure that in less than a day, my back would be back to normal.
