Everyone was already seated by the time Elizabeth and I reached the small cottage. There was food floating from the kitchen to the table as we walked closer and I noticed everyone was sitting in the places they had occupied the day before with the exception that Daniel was now the one sitting next to me.
When he saw me, he smiled brightly, relief and warmth irradiated from him as he watched me intensely, making me blush. I turned away and focused my attention on the center of the table, feeling hungrier now all of a sudden.
“So, where were you, girls?” Jonas asked, trying to make a conversation.
Elizabeth and I shared a look before I let her respond. “We just went out for a run. Us girls need some time away from men once in a while,” Jonas chuckled and shook his head.
