Gabby sat stiff beside me, her fingers tapping against the door handle like she wanted to jump out mid-drive. She hadn’t told Luca I was coming. That was her first mistake.
“He said just me and Gina,” she muttered, eyes fixed on the road ahead. “Didn’t want you there.”
I smirked. “Of course he didn’t. He’s still pretending I don’t exist.”
Gabby glanced at me, guilt flickering behind her lashes. “I shouldn’t have let you talk me into this.”
“You didn’t,” I said smoothly. “You just didn’t stop me.”
She didn’t argue. Just looked out the window like she was hoping the trees would swallow her whole.
I leaned back, satisfied. “You’re doing the right thing. He needs to face me eventually.”
Gabby didn’t respond. But she didn’t ask me to turn around either.
