Julian and Dorian arrived at the Donovan residence just before seven. The house was large but old‑money understated—cream walls, dark wood floors, framed family portraits, and a chandelier that had probably been hanging there since the 80s. Sherry greeted them warmly, kissing Julian’s cheek and patting Dorian’s arm as if she’d been waiting for so long for this dinner. Arnold Donovan, on the other hand, was already seated at the head of the dining table, swirling a glass of whiskey like he owned the place. Dinner began politely. It did not stay polite though. Arnold launched into stories before the soup was even served. It was about money, “smart investments" and “knowing how to handle cash better than most men.” He even mentioned about “a lucky hand at poker and blackjack.” Julian
