“Are you alright?” Alarick asked. “What happened?” he added while helping me back on my feet. “I felt a jolt of electricity when you touched it. When I touched it this morning, I didn’t feel anything,” I explained.  “How long have you had this?” he asked, reaching for the scales again. This time his fingers only brushed across the scales gently, sending a slight burning sensation all over my body. The scales totally reacted to his touch and it wasn’t unpleasant at all.  “I noticed them this morning when I went to take shower. I saw something shiny on my back in the mirror and when I went closer I saw them there.” I told him the truth.  “They are so soft.
