Did I just hear Eloise correctly? If Eric isn't able to, or doesn't want to, go to the Maritimes with Eloise then she is going to go on her own—in other words without me. Is she bluffing? What is she trying to pull? Whatever trap she is trying to set is glaringly obvious but that seems to be the point. The shock of her statement is enough to give her the upper hand and enough to make sure no one can knock her off balance. I have to trust her. I have to. She loves me. I have to trust that she knows what she's doing. I have to. I have no choice. Nonetheless, the look on my face gives away the fact that I am struggling. The thought of being without each other for any more than a few minutes gives me anxiety.
