Dante is the one who picks me up from the airport. Eloise has taken the week off work despite the fact she is still on her three-month probation and could lose her job for such an informal demand. She will hear from her employer probably around the time I get home. She gave less than 24-hour notice so I hope she will have a job to go back to. Dante gives me all the details he can but I decide I will just ask Eloise later when I get home. I had tried to get my flight bumped up when Dante told me what had happened but to no avail.
While Dante picks me up two of my other men guard the house, making sure no one can get in. The fact that Eloise was targeted while I was away leads me to believe that we were being monitored for some time before the attack—they waited until I was gone,
