Cuddling with Betty, I pulled her closer. I sniffed her hair and gave a few kisses before I relaxed and listened to the questions. Betty was asking Mica. She had some important questions covered. It had not occurred to me that he might not wish to return home. How selfish of me to assume he would want to take over where he left off, and I had no idea he had a woman of interest before he disappeared.
The night was full of stars as I looked out upon the vista and enjoyed listening to them talk. Slowly my eyes drifted closed, and I soon fell asleep. My mate in my arms comforted me in ways I could not have imagined, and, with a contented dragon, sleep came easier and fewer nightmares.
