(Marcus) I leaned back in my chair, keeping my eyes on Victoria. She was small and tense, hands still trembling on her lap. I could see she wanted to say something, but she didn’t. That scared me. Fear could make people honest or it could make them desperate. "Victoria," I said slowly, letting the silence stretch. She was looking everywhere but at me. I liked knowing that I could control situations like this, but she had crossed the line. She came up with some bullshit excuse as to why she recorded me, now I was out for blood. "I get it, you're angry. But you want to know the truth? I have been planning my escape from the moment you went into bankruptcy. I mean, what the hell are you going to take care of me with?"
