I was still eating when I received a call from Agent Maddox. I put it on speaker for everyone to hear. I expected good news, but it was the opposite.
"Hi Sophie. I'm calling to let you know that Marcus is missing." Maddox said without hesitation.
The fork nearly snapped in my hands. "Missing? How did that happen?" My voice rose, the anger burning in my chest.
"We conducted a force entry at his residence." Maddox explained briskly. "The house was empty. He's gone."
"Unbelievable. He slipped right under your noses. How are you going to find him?" This was getting out of hand. I wondered if these agents were amateurs because they weren't doing their jobs properly.
"We're expanding the search. Available resources is being pulled." Maddox continued to say.
