I stare at Jesse for a whole minute before everything sinks in.
"So Kate is going to kill her child if you don't get her money? What does that make her?"
He shrugs, his index finger tapping the table impatiently.
"I don't want her to kill my child."
"How do you even know that the baby is yours? She's been sleeping with your brother as well."
He looks at me dead in the eye.
"Believe me, it's my child. She has been sleeping with Mark for two months now yet she is four months along."
"So what are you going to do?"
He shakes his head.
"I don't know. I know Kate and I'm aware of how crude she can be. If she wants to abort the child, she will still do it regardless of whether I give her the cash or not. But then again, i can't just sit back and do nothing."
