Chapter 33
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Jake asks for the third time as we drive to the bus station across town.
My emotions are still controlling my brain and while I'm well aware of it, I'm powerless to do anything about it.
"I know Ryder and once he cools off, he's going to be upset about the way he handled all this. He'd be stupid enough to come after you," he adds.
We pull into the parking lot and Jake watches me as if he's expecting me to say something. He probably thinks I'm going to change my mind and even a part of me believes that I will.
"Then don't let him," I reply sternly.
I get out of the truck and grab my bags from the back before I can change my mind. I start towards the entrance of the bus station, but I hear Jake coming behind me.
