“You said it would be okay if I asked,” I whispered. Ansel’s eyes lifted to mine, dark and unreadable. “Are you asking?” My throat went dry. “Yes,” I breathed. “Kiss me now.” He didn’t hesitate. His mouth slanted over mine, hot and sure, and everything in me went still. His lips were delicious, hungry but gentle, like he had been waiting a lifetime for this. The world blurred around us. My fingers trembled against his shoulders as he deepened the kiss, tilting my head back with one hand while the other slid around my waist, pulling me closer until there was no space left between us. If he weren’t holding me up, I would have melted right there on the floor.
