I didn’t think when Rina’s hand struck Mae. Something inside me snapped and my body moved before my mind caught up. Heat rushed through my veins and my wolf stirred, angry and loud inside me. I shoved Rina back with all the strength I had. She stumbled into the counter with a loud thud, her eyes wide. I could barely breathe. Everything around me blurred. All I could see was her and the red haze clouding my vision. I yelled, my voice shaking, “Don’t you ever touch her again.” Rina pushed off the counter and came at me, but I met her halfway.
