I slammed my fist against his chest, my anger and frustration spilling out. He jumped back a little and looked at me, eyes bright and alert. “You got there,” he said, a teasing grin on his face. I shook my head, trying to catch my breath. “You’re so big. What good am I against someone twice my size?” My voice cracked, even as I tried to sound confident. He stepped closer, calm and steady. “Widen your stance,” he said. His hands rested on my waist for a moment, guiding me. Then he kicked lightly at my legs, forcing me to spread them wider. “You’re strong. Use that strength. A wider stance makes you harder to knock down, even by someone bigger.” Tears stung my eyes, and my chest felt tight. I swallowed hard, my mind flashing back to the day I left Otto battling Nelson.
