Chapter 3 Partner

2246 Words
Wyatt and Tyler sat across from Kelsie as she told them about everything in the dragon kingdom. From what Wyatt could gather, while Rhea missed being with them she was still doing okay. She wasn’t being mistreated and was not in any danger. Still, he wanted Rhea to know that if she ever wanted to leave, he would gladly come and get her. He said as much in the note he and Jason wrote to her. They had entrusted their letters to Kelsie to deliver to their siblings. “Cody is taking good care of our sister then?” Jason asked as he leaned on the arm of the chair. “That and eating all of the dragon’s food supply. Po Panda eats everything.” Kelsie rolled her eyes and snorted out a gust of air. “Sounds like a typical growing shifter to me.” Jason shrugged. He had always had a big appetite too. "If those dragons mistreat her at all bring her here to me. I'll protect her here." Wyatt's stormy eyes pinned against Kelsie. Kelsie nodded her head. "If those damn lizards do anything to hurt her I'll be bring hell to them. Don't worry. I will look after your sister." She then turned and looked at Jason. "No offense but I know I can do a better job of that then the bottomless pit bear you have for a brother." "I think you secretly want him." Jason chuckled and winked at Kelsie. "Why would I? If I wanted garbage I would find a trash can." Kelsie shrugged and Jason let out a low growl. "Easy there Kelsie. He may be a gluttonous pig but he is still one of my favorite brothers. Besides... you don't think he is charming in his own little way." Jason smirked at Kelsie, raising his eyebrows up towards her. "He is as charming as a rancid infection." Kelsie snorted and folded her arms across her chest. Wyatt chuckled. "Thanks for watching over the two of them for me." Regardless of what Kelsie is saying she would protect them both. Sometimes people who are close actually fight a lot. This was the case for Cody and Kelsie. She looked at Wyatt and nodded with a smile. “Well, I need to be getting back. I don’t like leaving Rhea for too long.” Kelsie stood up and looked at Wyatt and Tyler making sure it was okay for her to leave. “We need to be going too. I want to be back when Lilly gets back. I want to hear what is going on.” Tyler stood up and looked up to Tristan who nodded in agreement. “Go ahead and go Kelsie. Thank you for delivering the messages for us.” “Yes, thank you Kelsie. Remember if Rhea needs anything to come and get me.” Wyatt watched her nod and then left. “I’ll walk you out dad.” Wyatt and Jason followed Tristan and Tyler outside where they left their hippogryphs. Tyler stopped and turned to look at his two boys. He frowned slightly and ran his hand through his hair. “Man, I really miss having you guys around. It seems like only yesterday you were a bunch of little kids racing about. I wish I could just take you all with me.” “Awe Dad.” Jason walked up and wrapped his arms around his father. “We will be able to visit more after we get these demon problems figured out. For now enjoy your kid free vacation because it won’t last long. Wyatt and Rhea will soon be shipping your grandkids for you and mom to raise.” Jason laughed. “What about you? Are you going to ship us grandkids too?” Tyler asked, giving his son a side grin. “You know, taking a mate or not is a personal decision for us guardians. I decided that Tyler and Lilly were too much like children for me to ever dream of settling down. My life is complete with them and you kids. It was all I ever wanted. This is the life I chose.” Tristan added seeing Jason getting ready to immediately reject the idea. “I promise. Whatever decision I make will be my decision and not because I felt forced into it.” Jason wasn’t going to live his life celibate or anything, but he wasn’t sure if he wanted a mate. It just wasn’t usually done among guardians. You can’t have your mate taking priority over your charge. Wyatt would always be his number one priority. That is the way it worked with guardians . They were bound to their person. It was a bond hard to explain. It was strong like a mate bond. A guardian could sense their charge’s feelings and could even take their pain away. It wasn’t like the mate bond in that there was no intimate attraction. “I know there is a lot going on right now, but take time for yourself too. You have to have a Luna son. And somewhere out there is the perfect one for you. I’m sure of it.” Tyler hugged Wyatt tightly and patted his back. “If you need us, send a fairy messenger. They can get to us quickly. You might be a werewolf, but you are still a fairy prince too. Don’t forget that.” “Thanks dad. I promise if anything else comes up we will let you know.” Wyatt smiled and then felt himself get strangled in a big bear hug from his side. “You just need to get roughed up a bit more. Jason here is going easy on you.” Tristan chuckled and then smiled down at Wyatt. “You know your uncle Tristan is always here for you too. So if there is something you can’t tell your old man you just come to me.” “Pfft, old man.” Tyler rolled his eyes. “We will see you both soon. I love you both.” “Love you too dad.” “Love you too dad.” They both said in unison. They stood there and watched the two hippogryphs fly away, taking the two men with them. Wyatt leaned back on his heels. It was good to see them. He turned and shoved Jason. “Big mouth.” Wyatt hissed at his brother. “You were in a slump. I thought for sure you would tell at least dad when we visited, and you didn’t. So, I decided to send him a message and explain what had happened.” Jason shrugged and smiled. “It was nice having them here for a visit wasn’t it?” Wyatt looked up at the empty sky and nodded. “Yes, it was.” Just as he started to turn to walk back to the pack house a warm air swirled around him. The air played in his air and twirled around his clothes playfully. On the wind a slight giggle was heard. He snapped his head in the direction of the pack border. “Did you hear that?” Jason stopped from walking and turned to look at Wyatt staring off in the distance. “No, I didn’t hear anything. But I am sensing something. Something strong.” His voice reverberated in a low growl as he took a protective stance near Wyatt. Wyatt started walking towards the direction of where he heard the sound and a firm hand landed on his shoulder. “What do you think you are doing?” Jason looked at him astounded. Was his brother seriously going to walk towards something strange away from the safety of the pack. “I need to see what it is.” The wind gushed over Wyatt again and seemed to gently nudge him towards the sound he had heard. He smirked and tilted his head back to Jason. “You aren’t scared, are you?” Jason snorted angrily. “Trouble. That’s all you are for me is trouble.” He stomped in front of Wyatt. “Fine let’s go but I am leading the way.” The two men walked out of the pack territory and paused in an open field. The tall grass tossed back and forth in the breeze. The sunset had an orange glow over the field and in the distance, at the edge of the field, was someone. A girl with green wavy hair stood looking into the forest. She turned her head to the two men and a sweet smile spread over her face. She turned completely and started walking up towards them. Jason stood in front of Wyatt and growled at the girl. Though his growl did not scare her at all. She kept walking confidently with her cute smile resting on her face. When she was a few feet away from Jason she folded her hands behind her back and leaned forward smiling up at Jason. “I love your eye color! You’re not afraid of me, are you?” She giggled. Her voice was light and soft. It had such a happy sound to it. Jason seemed a bit taken back by the girl. A strange power was flowing from her. “Who are you?” He asked cautiously. The girl giggled and then tilted to the side so that she could see Wyatt. “Are you not going to come and see me? I’ve been waiting for you.” Jason growled threateningly and stood fully in front of Wyatt to block her view of him. The girl straightened up and giggled. She covered her mouth with her hand and looked into the chocolate eyes in front of her. “You really are protective over him, aren’t you?” Jason looked at the petite girl in front of him. Her green hair flowed behind her in a ponytail, her eyes were a deep emerald color, she looked to be in her early twenties, and she was very short (maybe only five foot tall). Despite her small stature, a strong power emanated from her body. He watched as she tilted her head to the side as she studied him. Another giggle escaped from her mouth. He watched as she effortlessly leaped into the air and landed on his shoulders. She stood on his shoulders and looked down at the chocolate eyes looking up at her. She was laughing as she looked at his shocked face. “Nothing can get past you right?” She giggled again as she watched his eyes darken. Jason quickly jolted backwards, and the girl gently leaped back down to the ground. Landing so softly as if she was being carried by the air. Wyatt put a hand on Jason to stop him from retaliating. This girl didn’t seem like she was there to hurt them. He patted Jason and smiled before he walked beside him. “You have been waiting for me? Why? Who are you?” The girl beamed and then leaned forward again placing her hands behind her back. “My name is Fujin.” Her sweet voice giggled out as she introduced herself. “Hmph, well that’s your name. What are you? And what do you want with him?” Jason growled out protectively. He did not know where this nimble creature came from. But she emitted a strong power and she had business with Wyatt. She added up to trouble in his eyes. And no one was going to hurt his brother. For the first time a small frown formed on her lips. Her deep green eyes looked down at the ground and she kicked at the grass uncomfortably. “Okay, don’t freak out please.” She looked up at the two men who were waiting for her response. “I’m a”, she sighed and clenched her eyes shut, “I’m a wind demon.”. She heard a low threatening snarl in front of her and she squinted her eyes open. The storm cloud eyes were looking at her with interest while the dark Hershey eyes were glaring at her angrily. “What do you want with him, Demon?” Jason said in a demeaning tone. Fujin looked at Jason and bit her lip. “Well, you don’t have to be so grumpy with me Mr. Bear. I didn’t even do anything.” She folded her arms across her chest and furrowed her eyes at Jason. And everyone gives demons a hard time. “Easy Jason.” Wyatt said gently. He looked into the shining emeralds and took a step forward. “What is it that you want with me?” A sweet smile raised on the girl and she took a shy step forward looking at Wyatt. “I have come for you Wyatt. I am here to be your partner.” The girl giggled as she watched his confused face in front of her. “I’m sorry. Your partner?” Wyatt asked making sure he heard her right. He watched as the small girl walked closer to him. “Yes, Wyatt. I am your partner. From here on out we will fight together.” Fujin lifted up in the air and Wyatt’s eyes widened as she planted her lips onto his. - - “Demon War: Rise of the Alpha” by JM Snap exclusively for Stary Ltd ( Dreame, Ringdom, Innovel).
