It was a dream that he was awake and walking in the direction of the cliff that jutted from the island over the sea. If you walked straight then you could slip and fall straight into the ocean and no one would ever be able to trace you again. The sea would engulf you whole. The village in which he lived was a fishing village even though he was not a fisherman and just one who worked at the school to teach the children yet he had heard the stories since he had come here. The stories of the men who were lost at sea and of the men who had walked off into the night and never been found again. His feet moved in a different direction than he wanted to go. The haunting melody entwined around his body, leading him to her. He thought it must be a her. For who could possess such an ethereal voice?
