‘Montgomery Realtors, Hali . . ‘ I start my spiel into the telephone receiver as I press it to my ear, my fingers reaching for a pen instinctively.
‘Yes, good morning, this is Mr Jacobson,’ a clipped voice interrupts me, stilling my hand inches from my pen, ‘I am ringing on behalf of my client, they are interested in purchasing a cabin that I believe you have listed for sale.’
I blink in surprise, my heart rate picking up slightly, my fingers trembling as I suck in a breath, urging my body to calm down. clearing my throat, I put on my most professional voice, ‘umm, yes, we have a cabin currently on our books, would Mr . . .’
‘Like I said, I’m dealing with this on behalf of my client’ Mr Jacobson replies firmly, cutting me off once again, OK then, no names, gotcha.
