I slowly open my eyes, expecting to see Lucas sleeping beside me. However, I am surprised to see that I am alone in the room.
That was strange. Ever since he's been trying to be a better husband, he has never left me alone while I slept.
I picked myself up from the bed and walked into the bathroom; there was still no sign of him there.
Where could he be?
Panic sits in my chest as a thought crosses my mind.
He wouldn't take this opportunity to go after my father, would he? I quickly remove my nightgown and slip into something more appropriate before storming out of my room in search of my husband.
The fear in my heart continued to increase with each passing second. I begged him not to interfere; I would hate to see my father punish him for not agreeing with his plans.
