The moment Varian’s hands pinned me against the wall, I knew I’d gone too far. His eyes were glowing, a deep, molten purple that seemed to burn through me. His dragon was close to the surface, scales rippling across his skin like liquid fire. The air around us crackled with raw energy, and I could feel the heat radiating off him in waves. “You think this is a game?” he growled, his voice low and guttural, a mix of his own and Draco’s. “You think you can taunt me with another man, and I’ll just stand by and let it happen?” I swallowed hard, my heart pounding in my chest. Keila was on the surface, waiting to see what your mate would do now. I knew I had pushed him too far, and now I was facing the consequences. “I—I wasn’t serious,” I stammered. Wait, what? Why am I stammering?
