"And why not?" Merigold spat. "Danell, you said they accepted engineers?"
"Engineers fall under military welfare," Danell explained. "I looked it up. To prevent anybody from being able to create weapons or anything dangerous without the King's supervision, they placed the engineers and everything that had to do with artillery under the Royal Military Academy. All the students are placed under oath to the Crown as soon as they enrol at the academy, and have to partake in service to the Crown throughout their training. Even after they finish their studies, they can work for the Crown or enter the service of a noble family. Most students will become knights with various specialties
