Chapter 4

Adriana was greeted by Don Eduardo's other security personnel when the plane landed. They want to protect the Ferrer family's heiress as much as they can. They will do everything possible to ensure her safety, as they promised to her father. "Are you ready, Ms. Adriana, to see your father?" Giovann inquired. His words were calm, but there was no sincerity in his eyes, which were dark because he was wearing sunglasses and carrying Adriana's luggage. "Bring me to my father. I'd like to see him," Adriana stated coldly. She began walking towards the car that had been waiting for them. The driver got out of the car when it arrived. "I will drive for Ms. Adriana. Join the other security personnel. Bring Nanny Iva and their belongings with you." Giovann commanded. The driver simply nodded to him. He quickly opened the door for Adriana after he finished speaking. But Adriana simply nodded, and she went inside. "How many hours until I see my father?" Adriana asked softly as she looked out the window. "Perhaps one to two hours if there is traffic, half an hour otherwise." "What are you waiting for?" Adriana exclaimed. Giovann just sighed, unable to reprimand the woman he serves because he promised her late father that he would look after and protect Adriana. He started the car right away. Aboard a Ferrari 458 Italia worth over twenty-two million pesos. They're on their way to the chapel where Mr. Ferrer was laid to rest. While Adriana was on their trip, the surroundings were peaceful. Only their car's engine could be heard. Giovann secretly glanced at the lovely lady beside him. He was already picturing Adriana's expression when she saw her father. Will she cry and show everyone that she's crying, or will she act bravely to avoid looking ridiculous? They eventually arrived at the chapel. Giovann simply parked the car and got out to assist Adriana. Adriana felt heavy when they went inside, especially her back. It's as if something unseen is transporting it. As a result, she bowed slightly. Giovann immediately backed her up. "Ms. Adriana, are you okay?” Giovann asked worriedly. She simply nodded and forced herself to stand up straight before walking straight ahead. She will see her father in a few moments. Adriana hasn't seen her father in a few years. That was the day her father sent her to live in Spain. To protect her from harm. Eduardo's funeral had already taken place. Flowers have also been placed next to his coffin. A large picture of him is also displayed, surrounded by white flowers. Adriana attempted to approach. She wanted to see her father's face, but her legs felt weak before she could take a step. Fortunately, Giovann is always accessible to take care of her. Giovann grabbed Adriana's shoulders and led her to the nearest seat. He also gave her water and gently rub her back. "Stop it, Giovann! I don't need you, so get out of here! Get out of my sight.” She shouted. Everyone looked at Adriana. Giovann suddenly felt embarrassed, because of what his evil boss shouted. But even so, he chose not to leave Adriana's side because he knew that Adriana needed help. She needs a shoulder to lean on and cry on. "Why is it that no matter how many times I yell at you and send you away, why are you still there? Why don't you leave?” Adriana said softly. She was calm while talking properly to Giovann. "I know how to keep my word. As I previously stated, I promised your father that I would take care of you and protect you, and that is exactly what I'm doing now." Giovann answered honestly. "Is that what he said before he passed away?" When Adriana said that, she turned to Giovann. She wanted to see his face while waiting for what he had to say. Giovann nodded in response. He looked Adriana in the eye for a moment, before he turned his gaze back to the coffin of the man he first served. "Good for you! You were lucky because you were with him before he lose his breath. As for me, he was already dead when I reached him. It hurts! It hurts me so much to lose my father even though he was not a good father to me.” Adriana said emotionally. She was currently holding back her tears. "You know what, Ms. Adriana? Even though I have only been with him for a short time, I can say that he is a very good person. He educated me, dressed me, and treated me like a child, and not just a staff member. He stood up as a father to me when my father was killed for protecting him." Giovann stated. He hadn't finished speaking when Adriana spoke, so he stopped. "You are still lucky, my father treated you right. While I, was her real daughter, he sent me to Spain, he let me live alone and away from him. Isn't that selfish? He didn't even think about how I would feel." Adriana said with a deep sigh. “You know, Ma'am? If only you could understand his reason for doing that, I'm sure that even you would thank him. You will be glad that your father did that to you. But no! With the hardness of your heart, no matter how much I explain to you, I know you won't listen. Or, if you listen, I know you won't understand either." "Daddy is the reason why I became like this. He made my heart hard. He deprived his daughter of love, so here I am now, very angry with everyone. What can I do? I'm used to being like this. Nothing can stand me! They all say that I am the opposite of my mommy. I'm her evil version." Adriana rolled her eyes after she spoke. "You are also the one to blame for why they treat you like that. You made them believe that you have a bad attitude because that's what you show them." "Why? Do you think if I explain, they will listen? Will they think of me differently? Not really, is it? No matter what I do, no matter what I explain, they will not listen to me and they will never understand me." Adriana's eyes were rolling with anger as she said that. She gets annoyed whenever her behavior is questioned. "That is a common trait and natural to the human. It's up to you if you want to be affected." Giovann's words were calm, but Adriana's bad attitude was there again. She raised an eyebrow at Giovann and fought him again. "You know what? I shouldn't be talking to you! You were just my bodyguard. You’re not even my relative, and you're not related to me, so I shouldn't be wasting my time on you." After she spoke, she stood up. Adriana felt a little better. She was about to approach the coffin of her father when someone suddenly approached him first, carrying his son and crying.
