When I opened my eyes again, the curtains were closed and my mother slept cuddled up beside me. My father had the recliner chair pushed back as far as it went, snoring lightly into the quiet room. My parents were dead asleep, they both looked drained. I could hear movements from outside the room, people walking back and forth.
