“Phin,” said Linda, “can you come to my office?”
Phin was tempted to tell her he didn’t have time, but the serious expression on his boss’s face brooked no argument. By the time Phin was sitting in the chair across from Linda, he felt like her stare could see right through him.
“I got an interesting phone call today from the district attorney’s office. Apparently, there’s reason to believe that you’ve gotten involved with one of your clients here.”
Phin’s jaw clenched, knowing full well who the person was who had called. “If you mean that I’m dating my client, then no.”
