Despite it being Saturday, Phin still came into the office that morning. Going to Ash and Violet’s wedding had put him behind on work. It didn’t help that sitting at home by himself only intensified how much he missed Emily.
No one else was in the office, for which Phin was grateful. He didn’t need a repeat of yesterday’s drama. Despite Katherine’s assertion that he should go after Emily, Phin wasn’t entirely certain he should. Why press the issue when he already knew what she would say?
Or you’re just a huge coward, his mind told him scathingly.
“I can’t believe you’re working today,” said a voice in the doorway. And there was Emily, standing in his office, like he’d wished for her and she’d appeared.
He stared at her, incredulous, wondering why she looked so happy to see him at all.
