Nothing had been going right.

If not for Emily, we would not have been rattled. I would not be stressing about our next steps and was not supposed to be thinking of damage control.
It had been a day but we still had not found Emily. We were keeping our eyes on her parents, but unfortunately, they were well-guarded. That would only mean one thing. Emily was alive.

We have tried to search in hospitals and we made several calls, but had no luck. Everything was tight. All the hospitals were guarded and we didn’t know which one Emily was in. That secretary could not have made it home. With her wounds, she wouldn’t last in at-home care. I was sure she got protection from the palace. She was alive and was able to contact someone there.
